Description

My goal with this project was to reproduce the Crescent Nebula using a Hubble Palette with the seamless introduction of RGB stars having accurate (PI PCC) color calibration.

Using an RGB lighten layer over the Hubble palette helped preserve the star color well. Mask erasure was used on the brighter stars to help preserve their true color.

Bright stars in the nebula area are a bit more difficult to preserve. And they looked a little strange when I tried. So those are Ha-SII-OIII stars with some magenta removal, but not too much to distract from the "Hubble look".

Our June 21.7 SQM skies really helped get good color with just a few subs. (-:

I left the Hubble midrange green but turned it more towards yellow in the brighter areas for arguably a more natural look.

Other than that, Photoshop Selective Color is your best friend for final tweaks. (-:

I may try gathering more OIII for a deeper lower-noise revision. (-:
