Description

M109 is a barred spiral galaxy, located in Ursa Major, and stands at magnitude 10.6, some 83 million light-years distant.   The nearby star Phecda, y UMa, is at magnitude 2.4 and often plays tricks with scattered light impinging on the imaging sensor.  In my edits, I minimized this effect using Photoshop, and employed some noise reductions, using both PixInsight NoiseXTerminator, and Topaz Denoise.  This very beautiful galaxy deserves to be admired for its perfect spiral arms.  I imagine our galaxy could look similar to M109 from a distance.
