Description

A small portion of the Vela supernova remnant. The star that formed this filamentous remnant imploded 11 000 years ago (Supernova II) to what is now a pulsar in the centre of the remnant.  The light from it is very faint and we are now seeing it as it was around 900yrs ago  (?battle of Hastings perhaps...). I captured 31 hrs data to improve detail of the filamentous structure (6 consecutive nights 14-19 Jan 2024 with moderate to good seeing).
