Da bambino, avevo 10 anni, mi regalarono un poster con M1. Da quel momento iniziò la mia passione della Astronomia. Dopo qualche anno ebbi regalato un rifrattore 70/900 e speravo di vedere la nebulosa e i suoi colori dal cielo di Napoli. Non avevo nessuna speranza ovviamente.

Mi sono preso la rivincita a 60 anni (ho dovuto aspettare un pò ...). Alla fine, sebbene con un piccolo apo da 80mm e sempre da un cielo con forte inquinamento luminoso (Salerno) sono riuscito a riprodurre i colori di quel poster di mezzo secolo prima .... Missione compiuta.

Bastava avere pazienza.

When I was a 10 years child old my parents gave me a poster with M1. From that moment my passion for astronomy began. After a few years I had given a 70/900 refractor and hoped to see the nebula and its colors from the sky of Naples. I had no hope of course. I took revenge at 60 years old (I had to wait a bit ...). In the end, although with a small 80mm apo and always from a sky with strong light pollution (Salerno) I managed to reproduce the colors of that poster half a century before .... Mission accomplished. You just had to be patient. Bicolor HOO.

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
