Description

Hi folks at Astrobin,
Well, after months of inactivity, I’m finally proud to post my last decent image took with my new imaging setup. Last October, I decided to switch from my confident mooded DSLR to the unknown world of cooled CMOS astro camera und picked up an ASI 183MM Pro. As everyone knows here, buying a new gear give you a few weeks of immediate penalty…but here, weeks have been months… Add some painful sessions trying to get all stuff working well, coupled with the worst fall period ever here in my area. This was my life last three months…

Anyway, I’m still happy to share this image I recorded early January in the Swiss Alps during snow vacation : IC434, The famous Horsehead Nebula, in an very attractive noisy rendition and pale colors palette. A bit noisy due to the lack of integration time for sure. I have also to learn how to stack lights and calibration frames from this cooled camera to improve global color calibration and background quality. Fortunately, this ZWO camera seems to work pretty well at least and will suit my both refractors in the future.

I’ve used also the ASIair interface with great satisfaction.

Feel free to comment this one and thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Christophe
