Description

A wide-field view of three prominent emission and reflection nebula in the constellation Auriga,  the Flaming Star Nebula (IC 405), the Tadpole Nebula (IC 410) and, in the bottom right corner of the image, IC 417, informally named the Spider.

The Flaming Star Nebula (https://www.astrobin.com/k2mnpo/) surrounds the bluish, irregular variable star AE Aurigae,  the ‘flaming star’ that gives the nebula its name and whose torrents of energetic radiation illuminate the nebula. The nebula measures approximately 37.0' x 19.0', and lies about 1,500 light-years away from Earth. The nebula is about 5 light-years across.

The Tadpole Nebula (https://www.astrobin.com/bobr7j/) is over 100 light-years across, sculpted by stellar winds and radiation from embedded open star cluster NGC 1893

RGB data acquired using Optolong L-Pro multi-bandpass filter. The L-Pro filter has high transmission in the main nebula emission lines at OIII (496nm and 500nm), H-beta (486nm), NII (654nm and 658nm), H-alpha (656nm), and SII (672nm).
