Description

IC 5068 is an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. The object, which is a section of the Pelican Nebula (IC 5070), was discovered by Thomas Espin in 1899.

Within IC 5068, there are intricate structures and filaments of gas and dust, sculpted by the powerful stellar winds and radiation. These features are the result of ongoing star formation processes within the nebula. Dense pockets of gas and dust collapse under their own gravity, forming new stars. The young, massive stars in IC 5068 emit strong stellar winds and intense radiation that shape the surrounding material, creating cavities and carving out the distinctive features observed in the nebula.
