Description

NGC 3344 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Leo Minor, with dimensions 7.1'x6.5' and magnitude 10.2.
Its distance from the Milky Way is estimated at 20 million light-years and its real size is 45,000 light-years, so it is a relatively small galaxy.
In reality it is a barred spiral, but the bar is very small and not immediately recognizable in the large bulge.
The extension of the spiral arms is notable, making almost a complete revolution around the galaxy, with evident fragmentations in the outer arms and several HII regions in the inner ones.
Countless remote galaxies are visible throughout the field.
