Description

This is the Sadr Region, the bright star is Sadr, it's the heart of Cygnus the swan

You can see the huge diffuse nebula in it, this frame of view is 10 full moons across. In the right corner is the Crescent Nebula, the star at the center of it, WR 136, will be a supernova in about 100k years -- it burns 600k times brighter than the sun and burning so fast it's only going to live about 5 million years vs the sun's 9 or so billion year lifespan. The cloud "shell" puffed off is something of a warning shot.

Color palette is HOORGB, so hydrogen alpha mapped to red and oxygen-3 on blue, with true color stars (bumped a little in saturation so you can catch their color in the halos).

Shot across four exceptionally clear nights after a cloudy two and a half months in the desert, from my Bortle 7 maybe Bortle 8 backyard in Phoenix). This was my first full-fledged project with my Rokinon (shot at f/2.8) lens, and while getting a good copy of the lens due to the company's sloppy quality control is really arduous, once you get a good one optically, it's something to cherish. I think I spent about three nights out with my PC and NINA's Hocus Focus getting the back focus and tilt as close to perfectly corrected as I had patience for, and it really paid off, stars were ok enough to cleanly remove from my dual-narrow image and my f/4 stars look perfect. I love this lens. So much more fun than doing mosaics for these wide shots.

Title: Oiii Drawn Out

Description: Pushed the image to its limits, to see if I could get more Oiii out of it. Probably a little too noisy but I like the color balance
