Description

Comet 2023H2 at NightFall.  This comet, although not that bright, was moving really fast through the sky.  That is why the nucleus in this image is a smeared line; 1 minute exposure times were too long to show the nucleus as star like, as it should have looked like.  This is a composite image of an image aligned on the stars and an image created from the same data aligned on the comet.  The telescope was unguided therefore it tracked the stars.  StarXTerminator was used to remove the blurred comet images from the images aligned on the stars, and MaximDL was used to align and combine all the images of the comet.  Then the comet image was copied on top of the star image in Photoshop, and the blend mode was set to lighten.  This image was down sampled 2X for presentation, as it is pretty soft at full resolution and there isn't much detail in the comet anyway.
