Description

I'm totally overreaching here with my "small" redcat51 refractor, but I wanted to gather photons from this nebula for a while.

So, here is NGC 281 with 3h of data (60*180s subs), processed in pixinsight with the SHO Hubble palette style (plus final touches in photoshop).

We can distinguish some awesome details like the dense star-forming "pillars of creation"-like feature at the bottom, the open star cluster at its core, the sharp dark dust lane or the bok globules. I'm quite amazed to be able to bring out so much with only 250mm of focal reach. Sure, it does not compete with most of the mind-blowing astrographs uploaded here, but I'm happy with the result nonetheless
