Description

From Wikipedia
Sh2-153 is an H II region in a very advanced phase of its evolution; In the visible light band it appears as a nebula with a low surface brightness, surrounded, especially on the northwest side, by a band of dark dust. One of the stars responsible for the ionization of the gases in the nebula could be LSI+60°8, a massive star of spectral class O 9.5, located outside the cloud itself; The hottest stars in the H II region and responsible for its ionization would, however, be completely enveloped in gases. The distance of the cloud, it's around 12,500 light years, indicates that it is located in the outer part of the Perseus Arm, in the same region of the OB Cassiopeia OB2 association and Sh2-157.
