Description

What is there to say about this - one of the most iconic dark nebulae in the northern sky - that hasn't been said before? It is simply beautiful with the very shark-like appearance, decorated with nice blue reflections at the top and bottom. For this I travelled out of the city and away from my usual Bortle 7 skies to the countryside at Bortle 4 and shot two nights of Luminance and then R,G and B subs. To get an even better signal to noise ratio, I went with BIN2 mode, applied after shooting in BIN1 through resampling in Pixinsight. That is the first time I did this and the results were very noticeable. Since with this dark nebula, the emphasis is not so much on the highest possible resolution but more on eking out the last bit of signal, which to me justifies this step. Anyway, I hope you like it!
