Description

After a bit of initial fiddling around there was a crack in the sky last night to get a first light with a QHY294M Pro with 36mm Astronomik filters. Having no real clue about what parameters to use I set gain=1700 (unity gain is 1600) and offset at 10. Choice of offset was purely to make the left side of the histogram of a dark similar to my QSI6120.  The default value was 60 which seemed insanely high moving the histogram out past 3000ADU.  The Ha subs calibrated very cleanly with no real need at all for cosmetic correction process.

There were 9x300sec Ha subs (6nm pass). Camera was at -15C to match existing dark masters.  Image of the Flame nebula near horse head is at 945mm as camera is on Newt the 8" ~F/4.7 scope right now what with galaxy season being here.  Used the 11MP mode so pixel size is 4.6u. The Focus V-curve does need redoing as I changed spacing by about 2.5mm and I've found that coma-correctors are picky about that. Simple processing in PI with just a stretch and mild noise reduction. I'll have to dig a bit and experiment about the offset.  No obvious signs of clipping but a tad more wiggle room might make sense.

If any folks have advice regarding offset please pass them my way!
