Description

NGC 6559, IC4685, IC1275, IC1274 are a series of structures and star-forming regions located in the constellation of Sagittarius. I recently published the LRGB image for this object, but also collected SHO data. There was good signal across all NB channels. I produced a conventional SHO - Hubble Palette image using the PixInsight process and I think the result was very interesting. I am showing it here in Version B and as the mouse-over. However, the main image was produced using the Forax process, which has a particular methodology combining narrowband images using dynamic PixelMath expressions using PixInsight. As such it can produce a more aesthetically pleasing, less garish result.
The stars were removed and replaced with LRGB stars to avoid the funky colours that stars can take on with narrowband and avoiding the need to process the stars to a less scary colour.

NGC 6559, in the lower part of the image at left, is a star-forming region located at a distance of about 5000 light-years from Earth, showing both emission and reflection regions. Above it and to the right is IC 4685. which combines emission and reflection nebula intersperced with black rivers of molecular clouds. The two attractive areas of nebulosity IC 1275 & IC 1274, again featuring emission and reflection nebulae can seen in the upper left side of the image.

This is a phenomenal area of the sky set against the backdrop of the Milky Way, given away by the profusion of golden yellow stars in the background. The structures from emission nebulae to relection nebulae to filiments of dark dust clouds makes for an enthralling vista.
