Description

A seagull in the winter sky framed by extremely faint red wings leaves behind a small, bluish glowing, spider looking blob. The head of the seagull is dominated by a single star exciting its surrounding gas and dust clouds. The small bright blob is the Duck Nebula also known as Thor's Helmet. The field of view is about 15°x10°. I exposed for about 16 hours in order to recognize the extremely faint wings which you can hardly see in images published somewhere else before. With the waxing moon I changed the narrowband filter from L-Enhance to L-Extreme to be able to capture the faint structures at all.
