Description

Another gem! Those planetary nebulae are quite intriguing!

I present the Blinking Planetary Nebula that I captured during the early morning hours of 11, 12 and 13th of April 2024.

The PN is situated in Cygnus and is only 2.1 archmin in size. Its distance from us is estimated at 4 000 light years and its diameter - 2.5 light years.

The core of the nebula is very bright. The first night I tried imaging it with 10 minutes subs. Then when I checked I saw that the core was burned out but the outer rim was visible. So during the next two nights I switched to 30 seconds subs. I stacked the first night and the second two nights separately. Then I used HDRComposition in PI to combine the data and GHS to stretch.

Finally I managed to preserve the core and show a faint hint of the outer region of the PN. And on top I got some nice blue color. I love it.

CS,
Ivan
