Description

This scene in the Large Magellanic Cloud contains several round bubbles where stars have formed, including the small one, NGC1748,  in the lower right.  Each bubble has a hot, blue star in the center that has formed as recently as 30,000 years ago and expelled the gas in the neighborhood to form the bubble, as described for this HST image of NGC1748.

Just above NGC1748 in the middle on the right is a globular cluster in the LMC, NGC1756.  Some sources say it is an open cluster but this paper and others classify it as globular.

The image was captured with EdgeHD11 at f/10 and ASI1600MM Pro on CGX-L oag-guided with MetaGuide, with fwhm's down to 1.3".

The processing is very simple with mapping of Ha to Ha/HB perceptual RGB values, along with Oiii similarly mapped to RGB - in a linear manner with equal scaling.  The result was then stretched in photoshop.  No cropping, gradient removal or sharpening was applied - just a nonlinear stretch after assigning the colors to the channels.

23 x 5m exposures in each channel with Astrodon 3nm filters.
