First light with the brand new filter from Otpolong the L-Ultimate. I've been using the L series from the L-Pro to the L-Extreme and have been very pleased with the results. The big takeaway with the L-Ultimate is the very tight band pass of the Ha & Oiii channels down to only 3nm! Tightest band pass on the market in the duo narrowband filters for those with OSC cameras.

So I put it to the "ultimate" test last night. An object that's rich in both Ha and Oiii band passes, during a 100% full moon, and the bright star 52 Cygni for haloing that's very typical with this star. The Witch Broom Nebula that's a part of the Veil Nebula complex.

After only 3 hours of data the results are in and I am BLOWN AWAY. I could not believe the amount of data I have captured in that short amount of time. I have imaged this region before with the L-extreme and even the l-enhance and it took 2 or even 3 times long to get. Even during no moon presence. So much rich Oiii data that I could not see before with previous filters. Not to mention with 52 Cygni, absolutely very little or if any haloing around that bright stars. Optolong you have outdone yourself with this filter.

Big shout out to Optolong Astronomy Filter for making such a badass filter and High Point Scientific for being my goto for all my astro gear here on the east coast.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.

Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
