Description

Sh2-98 is a ring-shaped H II region associated with the Wolf-Rayet star WR 130 and a molecular cloud with a mass of approximately 3000 solar masses, its distance would be approximately 11740 light years, therefore beyond the Cygnus Complex region, near the initial stretch of the Orion Arm. Through investigations carried out in the infrared band, three sources have been identified, indicated with the acronym IRAS 19571+3113, IRAS 9572+3119 and IRAS 19560+3135, this last source seems to be associated with a water maser, a typical characteristic of the presence of young stellar objects in the cloud. Added to these sources are four others visible in radio waves and another hydroxide maser. All these clues indicate that Sh2-98 harbors star formation phenomena within it, to the point that it also appears in the Avedisova catalog of star formation regions, with number 922.
