Description

This is a tight crop of an image I reprocessed recently using PixInsight and Photoshop (from Oct 2021, captured with a GT81, and OSC.  As I was editing for M31 details (no dodge/burn or area specific tweaks) I noticed NGC 205 or M110, the companion elliptical galaxy started to show more details near the center, to what appears as a darkening or perhaps dust near the core area. Also, I noticed upon further inspection that NGC 205 almost appears to have very faint brightening of arms that may extend out much more like we see in the classic spiral galaxies.

In this tight crop, NGC 205 is oriented at about the 11p to 5p position, and if you look the "arms" they appear to eminate from the end of each broad area (11p, 5a positions) and spiral out slightly to the right from the 11p, and to the left from the 5p positions.

I'm curious if anyone else has noticed this effect?  It seems that this detail popped out completely without my intention or focus on this region. I did not do any special editing or enhancement on this object.  The full-frame version can be found here:  https://www.astrobin.com/fl54ov/B/
