Description

I had the privilege to hike to a very remote crystal clear lagoon under the southern hemisphere skies in the Atacama desert in Chile. This photo was a moment when the air was so still, the stars seemed brighter in the lagoon than the actual stars above. It was also magical overhead with the entire Milky Way accompanied by two satellite galaxies: the small and large Magellanic Clouds. These are completely out of view in the northern hemisphere. The little galaxies are destined to merge with our own much bigger Milky Way far in the future.
Taken with a Canon 6D on a tripod, with a 14mm Sigma Art lens, f/1.8. A single 20 second exposure, ISO 6400.
