Description

still cloudy, so Hubble data it is...
If you got down to this description, probably you are asking: "eggs"? really...? Well, EGGS stand for "Evaporating Gaseous Globules" as per the scientific astronomical lingo. These eggs, conveniently, are associated with star formation. I am attaching an abstract by Hester et al (1996) in the Astronomical Journal, for those of you that are inclined to gather more precision about the objects described. There, you will find that the authors, by calling them EGGS, "avoid serious difficulties with the competing  "evaporating disk"", a model the authors don't agree with (it seems). If you have trouble locating the eggs, I will also be attaching an image with some arrows, pointing to the culprits.

Note that I am not that happy with my processing of this image, as it was very hard to get rid of the noise. I imagine that this has to do with the very high magnification at which the data was acquired. However, I also had trouble stretching these images with PI, as the normal stretching procedure does not work well. I think this has to do with the extreme narrow band of the filters used, which led me to use a statistical method that I am not completely certain about. I have to ask the gods of PixInsight, to see if they have insights in this case. For now, it will have to wait for a revision....

Filters used in acquisition and my processing are f502n (OIII, used as blue), f656n (Ha; used as green), and f673n  (SII, used as red).
The machine used by the Hubble to take these images is WFCP2.

Processing was accomplished  with PixInsight, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Light Room
