Description

SH2-313 a.k.a Abell 35, a planetary nebula in Hydra ~521 ly away. One of the oldest planetary nebulas similar in size to the helix nebula.
The central binary star system, with one of them being a white dwarf, is responsible for the nebula, and their movement together through the nebula produces the bow shock as seen in the center. LoTr 1 and LoTr 2 are only two other known planetary nebula believed to have a binary system. The central binary system is constantly studied as it presents challenges to theories of binary star systems evolution.

LRGB  31h 10m (48:47:46:46 x 600s) from CH-1 Telescope, a Planewave CDK24 with FLI PL 9000 camera and Astrodon 2nd GEN LRGB filters, situated in the Rio Hurtado Valley, Chile. Part of the telescope.live network. Taken on multiple dates, March-April 2022.
