Description

The Anteater Nebula, also known as NGC 6726, is a reflection nebula located in the constellation Corona Australis, approximately 420 light-years from Earth. This nebula is part of the Corona Australis Molecular Cloud Complex, one of the closest star-forming regions in the Milky Way. It is characterized by its blue hue, which results from the reflection of light from nearby young stars on the surrounding dust clouds. In addition to NGC 6726, the area includes other nebulae such as NGC 6727 and IC 4812, as well as the variable nebula NGC 6729, illuminated by the variable star R Coronae Australis.
