Description

NGC 2170, The Angel Nebula, is a reflection nebula in the constellation Monoceros.   It was discovered on October 16, 1784 by William Herschel.  It “paints a vivid skyscape with dark veins of dust overlapping regions of glowing hydrogen emission and reflected light from young stars” [Wikipedia and Astronomy Magazine, May 2024].
   The 10h of LRGB data in this image were collected by DeepSkyWest in Rio Hurtato, Chile, using their PW CDK17 telescope in January 2024.
