Description

This is a wide-field narrowband capture of the molecular cloud that surrounds the Cone Nebula.  It, the Christmas Tree Nebula and the Fox Fur Nebula are all about 2700 light years distant.  Also in the field are Hubble's Variable Nebula that shows up white and IC 2169 to the right.  Of interest is the mixture of Sulfur II (red), Hydrogen-alpha (green) and Oxygen III (blue), the Hubble palette,.  Some areas show pure green or emission from hydrogen.  Some are pure blue or emission from  oxygen.  Then there are magenta and yellow areas that indicate a mixture of Oxygen and Sulfur and Oxygen and Hydrogen.  There are several thin bands of red indicating an abundance of Sulfur emission.
