First image with my Askar 200mm ACL

Here is the first image with my new lens, an Askar 200. I have to say, I am pretty impressed with this little guy, decent detail, good wide FOV and nice round stars all the way to the edge and I did not crop this very much. Because of a stupid goof by me I only got a little over two hours of data. But at F4, this is a pretty fast lens.

I had a bit a goof that costs me almost half of my images. This is part of another group project and I when rotating the camera to get the proper orientation I needed to unplug the Dew sensor from the Pegasus power box. And, of course, I forgot to reconnect and we had some major dew issues and I had to delete over 70 frames.

The target area for our group project is the Flaming Star and the Tadpole Nebulas, but the FOV of this lens captured quite a bit more. So many objects, 3 star clusters (including 2 messier objects) and several sharpless, LDN/LBNs, numerous other targets and a massive star field.

I am looking forward to capturing more targets with this lens.

Title: Revised

Description: This is a revised image using 4 of the new scripts in the Pixinsight toolbox which made a pretty amazing difference in the colors and they were real easy to use. However, after furhter review, I think I might have overdid some of the scripts as I see some color noise has been added to the corners and edges. Oh well, this was just the first test.

Description: I added another 4 hours of data and reprocessed. The added data definitely help bring out some more detail if you zoom in. You can actually now clearly see the Tadpoles in IC 410.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
