Description

NGC1333 is a reflection nebula surrounding an active star forming region at the southern border of  the Perseus constellation next to Aries and Taurus. It is located at a distance of about 1000 lyr. It contains some 150 stars that formed less or about 1 million years ago, and thus also contains about  20 young stellar objects producing outflows, so is a very interesting region to study. Not surprisingly, NGC1333 thus has  also been targeted by IR satellites such as the Spitzer observatory. The combination of the blue reflection nebula, the red color stars owing to the high extinction and dark molecular clouds makes NGC 1333 a very pleasing colorful object.
