Description

This is the first astrophoto I felt was good enough to display on the internet. I'm still very new to astrophotography and any critiques or advice would be very appreciated.

Night 1 (10/30)
  • 24x300s light through an Optolong L-eNhance Filter
  • 6x300s Dark
  • 40 Bias frames

Night 2 (10/31)
  • 29x300s light through an Optolong L-eNhance Filter
  • 6x300s Dark
  • 40 Bias frames

Total Frames:
  • 53x300s light through an Optolong L-eNhance Filter
  • 12x300 Dark
  • 80 Bias
  • Light integration time: 4hr 25min

I still have no reliable way to take Flat frames and I am unsure if the circular dark spots in the image are caused because of this or because of another reason I am unaware of. I also see some significant trailing of the stars around the borders because the coma corrector is not correctly placed and I will have to fix the backspacing of that in my next imaging sessions. The trailing of the stars is still significantly better than when there was no coma corrector placed in the telescope so I am not too saddened by this. I've since done more research and determined that a gain of 2000 is much too high and just added unnecessary noise to the image.
