Description

Nice to be out again in shirt sleeves at 2am as we enjoy a period of hot weather. Civil darkness and a 98% waning moon did not put me off.

I’m rather pleased with the depth and amount of nebulosity picked up with just IR/UV filter and unguided 60s exposures. The Altair 183C hypercam provides a much wider field than my old Meade DSI CCD camera

Calibrated and aligned in ASTAP, and processed in Startools. The image is a bit soft, a result of imaging with my 28mm Pentax SLR lens, and a bit of a gradient remains in the right of the image.

The mouseover (Revision B) shows the same integration using a narrowband L-eNhance filter, making the rich nebulosity standout from the background starfield.

Revision C is a composite of RGB and NBF data processed as L(NB)RGB 103 x 60s subs.

I expect I could have orientated my camera to pick up the head (Albireo) but I’m pretty pleased with this almost ‘swan’s-eye view’.

Title: Narrowband data - L-eNhance filter

Description: 51x60s exposures through my L-eNhance filter, aligned and stacked in ASTAP and processed in Startools. I have to unscrew the hypercam for filter changes, resulting in some rotation from the original.
