Description

Hey,I would like to present to you my winter struggles with the weather. The hero of my picture is the Medusa Nebula. I was collecting material for it practically from December to the beginning of March. The conditions this winter were extremely unfavourable, which affected the visibility of oxygen in the nebula. Composed in the SHO palette.A little information about the object itself: IC 443 was discovered on 25 September 1892 by the German astronomer Max Wolf. Because of its appearance, the nebula has been named the "Medusa Nebula", not to be confused with Abell 21. Unlike Abell 21, IC 443 is a supernova remnant and not a planetary nebula. The pulsar wind nebula with the neutron star CXOU J061705.3+222127 has been identified as the source of the supernova. A jet-like structure has been discovered in IC 443, which appears to originate from a neutron star. The distance to IC 443 is about 1.9 kpc (6200 light years) and its age is estimated to be about 30,000 years. The image consists of Ha: 220x300s, Sii channels: 104x300s, O3: 89x300s. The disparity is mainly due to the fact that I avoided collecting oxygen while the moon was towering high or its visibility was above 50%. The stars are a mixture of SHO with a minimally altered ratio to nebula.Material collected with SGP, stak and processing in PixInsight, resize to 4k px on the long side.
