Description

After a 3+ hour drive to Wild Rivers Recreation Area, my main camera, a monochrome QSI 583wsg CCD cam, decided to roll over and play dead (hoping it's just the data cable). Luckily, I brought along the full-spectrum modified Canon T4i (EOS 650), which I tossed in the car to do some wide-field Milky Way work.  It's been a long time since I've used a OSC.  Forgot how quick it is to acquire light frames with a DSLR!  Also forgot how long it takes to do all the calibration frames in the field, in order to keep a relatively constant temp on the sensor.  This image combined subs of 120, 90, 45, 20, and 10 seconds. Clouds started rolling in with the shorter frames, so had fewer of the 20 and 10 second subs worth stacking. While identifying misfits in PI's Blink, I noticed faint streaks across a consistent path on many of the frames at every length.  It was the SkyLink train running past just above the Great Orion Nebula's trapezium. Luckily DSS and PI were masterful in cleaning them up.
