The Bubble Nebula has always fascinated me. It's one of those deep sky space objects that just seem too cool looking to be real. The "Hubble Bubble" has inspired me to shoot this DSO again and being under extremely dark skies meant I could capture a lot of signal in a short amount of time. I captured the same target about a year ago under B4 skies with an l-enhance filter and the ED127. At the time, I had framed the nearby star cluster M52 into frame but this time I wanted the bubble centered. I was looking to achieve vibrant colors while also maintaining a sharp bluish orb. If you've been following my work for some time now, you know how much I love the rainbow SHO color palette. Nothing is very different here. Bright neon and olive greens mixed with yellows and reds. Some areas have a tint of purple and the vibrant teal blue bubble centered. If you find yourself struggling while performing a histogram stretch on this target, you're not alone. The bubble is extremely bright compared to the surrounding gases. My suggestion would be to make two separate stretches and then blend the images together using layer masking. This allows you to maintain the color and details in the bright bubble, while also achieving balanced surrounding nebulae.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
