Description

Merry Christmas!  While other more sensible Astrobin colleagues are posting wonderful objects today, this will likely be the smallest, most obscure, most distant and least spectacular.

This Astrobin Debut Object is a trio of galaxies located in the constellation of Pisces at a declination of +2 degrees.

UGC 12525 is the largest galaxy in the image and is located 400 million light years away.  This magnitude 14.5 spiral galaxy spans 40 arc-seconds in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 75,000 light years.

The other 2 galaxies of the trio have no distance data.  Based on the faint plumes, I believe that at least 2 of these galaxies may be interacting to some extent.

The small speck of light just above and left of the trio is quasar SDSS J232027.87+013428.2, about 10 billion light years away.
