Description

M76 has been on my narrowband target list for a long time and I'm happy that I finally got a first impression. This target is relatively small, so I think that's likely why it doesn't receive as much attention.

I arranged the OIII subs in 2 sets and stacked each one separately, so that each OIII stack has a slightly different noise profile. Then I combined both with H-alpha as a H(O1)(O2) palette. This greatly improved the noise reduction result from DeepSNR, despite the lower SNR of the OIII 'half-stacks'.

The subs were acquired while I waited for M33 to clear my neighbor's rooftop. Total integration time is low compared to what I usually aim for, but decent compared to my recent session with the ASI462MC, which had only 5 minutes of total integration time.

Stars measured about 2.5 arcsec FWHM before deconvolution, so not the best resolution I can do with my skies and gear. M76 has two stars in it's center, but the pair could not be split in this data. My ASI462MC short exposure data (2" FWHM, 0.74"/pixel) shows an indication of 2 stars in the very center. I checked some other images to measure the distance, it's a very close double with less than 1.5" separation.
