Description

First light with a lot of new equipment and the need for learning fast in the cold:
  • first goto mount (I was using LXquattro before, but did not use that more than twice)
  • first photo with astro-modded DSLR
  • first use of portable power supply to power all equipment
  • first use of ASIAIR
  • still unable to properly focus the camera lens

There are some quirks when controlling the Nikon D5600 with the ASIAIR: The camera sometimes does not respond to commands anymore when doing a test shot. Only a power cycle of the camera and a reconnect to the ASIAIR help in this case. However, the programmed session (60x 120 seconds) was processed without any hiccups.

The Skywatcher EQM-35 Pro showed less than 1" total error once guiding was settled in.
The equipment was so light, that I did not have to use a counter weight.

Siril just released a new beta for version 1.2.0 a few weeks ago. This was the trigger to finally get a bit of (so far non-existent) image processing skills.
I was lucky to benefit from the Starnet++ integration, as the stars on the original frames look horrible: huge (focus?) and with 18 spikes.

I will never forget the feeling when the magic was captured on the DSLR screen.
