We captured this during our vacation in Crete. Most of the nights we took wide-field images to catch falling stars - it was near the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. But we were not particularly happy with the outcome, so this time I turned the camera towards the GC and used a zoom lens @ 70mm. We tracked it for about an hour, with 30s exposures. The light pollution was much worse than we expected, but our terras still provided a great view of the GC (we do not really have the privilege to see it in the NL). And there it is, a
Perseid! From the trajectory (and how it looked compared to others), we actually believe it is a group member.
Please do not zoom in! We share this for the experience, not for image quality.
We took this with a Sony A7III on a tripod with an Omegon Minitrack, at 70mm.
The Sony FE 24-70mm f4 ZA OSS Zeiss is not the best lens for this kind of work, it has strong vignetting (even after a correction, it has an imprint in the image).
