Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a small, poorly defined spital galaxy located 30 million light years away in the constellation of Andromeda at a declination of +41 degrees.  It is a magnitude 13.5 galaxy which spans 1.7 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a small diameter of 15,000 light years.

This object is about 0.5 degrees northeast of the fairly popular galaxy NGC 7640.

The size and structure of this one looks like a Magellanic galaxy to me, similar to Arp 3.  I don’t see a bright core or arms, simply a brighter inner region with some blue star clouds.

The Hubble image of the mouseover is provided for a better view of the details, particularly the nearby background galaxies.
