Description

IC 1295
PK 25 - 4.2
PN G025.4 - 04.7

IC 1295 is a Planetary Nebula located in the Scutum Constellation with a magnitude of 12.5. It was discovered in 1867 by Truman Safford and lies about 4,700 light-years from Earth. An exterior ring can be seen along the outer rim.

Acquisition Notes: The nebula shows up well in Ha but is dominated throughout with O3 that generates the bright blue color. IC 1295 is seldom photographed but was easily processed with the data captured resulting in a suitable final image. I was hoping for more hydrogen, oxygen and RGB star subs, but unexpected passing clouds cut my session short, so I just processed the data collected as HOO.

Clear Skies, Eddie
