Description

NGC 7822 is a large gas region in constellation Cepheus, encompassing the star forming region Sharpless 171 and a young star cluster called Berkeley 59. The latter contains one of the hottest star nearby our sun, BD+66 1673, whose surface temperature is about 45’000 Kelvin, against 4’500 Kelvin at our Sun and it is 100’000 more luminous than it. It is this cluster that lits the whole area. On the right, the bright region contains several pillars of cold molecular gas and dark dust, commonly named elephant trunks.

This is an SHO narrowband image with RGB stars, photographed during September 2023 at Barcarena, Portugal, in a total of 46 hours.

To colorize it I've used @Adam Block  NB Colour Map new script which I found it makes so much easier to do it! It is usually the biggest ordeal I have when processing NB imagens - not anymore. 😄
