Description

Caldwell 49, AKA, the Rosette Nebula. I shot this data a couple of weeks ago and then somehow forgot about it!

This deep space wonder is located in the constellation of Monoceros at a distance of around 5,000 light years from Earth. The open star cluster at the center was formed from the nebula’s matter.

I processed this in the HOO palette, where Ha was assigned to the red channel and Oiii to the blue channel. I created a synthetic green channel, using a special blend of Ha and Oiii. I also ended up creating a luminance layer from the Ha data, from which I enhanced the fine details and contrast.
