Description

Photographing the sun in ultraviolet light has always fascinated me, since its appearance is very different from what we can see in other wavelengths. It looks like a completely cracked marble and on its surface we can see sunspots surrounded by thin glowing webs of magnetic froth bubbling around the active regions (plages).
Due to all these characteristics and the violet color that I used in post production to represent the photographed wavelength, our sun became a mysterious ultraviolet star.
In the photograph we can see 9 active regions, very close to the southeast limb appears AR3190, one of the largest sunspots that crossed the solar disk in this new cycle 25.

This photograph was taken on January 14, 2023

To obtain this photo, I captured multiple videos of 800 frames each for almost an hour and a half and then chose the one least affected by the turbulence of the atmosphere. From the best of these videos I stacked 115 frames with AutoStakkert and applied wavelets with Registax.
Final contrast and color adjustments were made using Photoshop.
