Description

47 million light years away in the Leo Spur, NGC 3198 yields a nice bar and blue spiral arms, with some embedded knots.   The galaxy is maybe slightly larger than the Milky Way at just over 100K light-years in diameter (based on a calculation using no less than 7.5 arcmins on the major axis).

Description: Longer integration time (10.5 hours @ f/2.2). I was hoping for more from this galaxy given the additional integration time, but this seems to be all it's willing to give up. As it is in Ursa Major, there are quite a few background galaxies to add a bit of spice.
