Description

Switched to ISO200 for this session and it seems to work well. I am learning more about optimum exposure time and expect I don't need to be going 600s in a red zone. I want to quantify the light pollution but expect I'll drop it back just to get better star quality lower risk of per-sub issues. In this session I had to toss 1/4 of subs for clouds, oh well. I also changed up how I took flats and it was a mistake. I got vertical banding. Stacked the lights w/o flats and got a very similar pattern. But used flats from last week and it was magically fixed. Need to play around more...

Description: Trying out the EZ Processing Suite in PixInsight. Used EZ Decon and EZ Soft Stretch. I see a bit more color gradient in the background of this processing but the core of M106 is much crisper.

Description: Went back and looked at the frames I had rejected with Blink in SubframeSelector and kept 2 from that set and tossed 1 from the set I had integrated before (high eccentricity). And a bit more considered approach to deconvolution, though still almost push button with EZ Decon. Super small improvement, barely seen unless looking at faint stars which are a little bit more defined. I'll take it..
