Description

Abell74 is a very large, very dim, ancient planetary nebula. It's rarely imaged due to how faint it is and this image has a total integration time of over 40 hours. It's estimated to be 2500 light years away and 14 arcminutes in diameter which comes out to a little over 10 light years in diameter. It's located in the constellation of Vulpecula near the border of Pegasus. Galaxy PGC66471, considerably well beyond this nebula, is the small, bright patch shining through the planetary nebula about 3/4 of the way towards the right (North).
