Description

Located 3600 light years distant, the Seagull Nebula is a shape within a shape.   The larger shape looks like a bird and is ~250 light years across.   This image has only a subset of that larger shape, and focuses on the smaller seagull in the form of a dark nebula.   The area around that dark nebula has some reflection components that give nice contrast to the broader emission nebula in the surrounding complex region.

Not quite as much signal as I'd like for this image, it still shows plenty of internal structure.   I ran short on time and quality subs in the season to capture this to where I'd fully like, but I'll likely return to it in a future season to add signal.  For now, it's ok for the signal I did get.   I'll also note that after posting the image and seeing the histogram, I was surprised to see as much green signal as I got.  I went back to reduce that green, but I actually like the subtle greens in the original better than the revised two-tone red/blue image.   There must be some OIII in that region....
