Description

VdB 19, also known as the Flying Ghost Nebula, is a reflection nebula located a few arcminutes from the 3.8 magnitude star Omicron Persei.  IC348 refers to the young, open cluster, that is ~990 light years distant and that is responsible for the reflection nebula, VdB 19, shown in the above image. The cluster has at least 15 stars larger than our sun, over 300 stars of all sizes.  Looks like a crown Jewel to me.

This image is a crop due to the overwhelming nature of Omicron Persei.
