As a boy I was fascinated by the universe, reading astronomy books I couldn't possibly understand, observing stars and the moon with binoculars and making notes that didn't matter much either!

Fast forward +/- 50 years: Covid lock down. Why not pick up astronomy again? I joined the local observatory, attended courses, read a set of astronomy books and bought my first telescope. Today I own a 10 inch Dobson, which is great for viewing the moon, planets and some bright DSO's, in particular globular and open star clusters. But not so much for galaxies and nebula, at least not from my bortle 5 backyard.

That's when I found out the magic of modern digital astophotography: to extract an image from dim and far away deep sky objects that human eyesight cannot ever approach, even through a big telescope.

I attended an astrophotography course autumn 2022 and started with very basic equipment, like a 12 year old DSLR. Soon I joined a local group of great and enthusiastic astrophotographers. Now it seems I am lost forever! 😉
