I've always had an interest in space and photography, but had never combined the two apart from the odd photo of a full moon.
In February 2019, after walking back from a friends house under an incredibly clear sky, I pointed my Panasonic G85 M43 camera at the Milky Way, just to see what would happen. I was amazed at what I could capture with such basic gear, and this led me to further research, and hours and hours of watching YouTube videos about gear, image capture and processing techniques.
In early 2019 I decided to buy some proper kit. I sold my kayaks and a bunch of other stuff which was accumulating dust in the garage and I am now the proud owner of a William Optics GT81 scope with ZWO ASI294MC Pro camera all sitting on an iOptron ZEQ25 mount with iPolar and a guide camera.
I'm just starting out on my astrophotography journey and loving it.
I live in Waikanae, New Zealand under Bortle 4 skies.
